I have a PVC valve with male ends, but the male fittings are 3/4. Can you help?

I spoke with my contact over at Camco and he was very adamant about removing the PVC and using brass fittings that come in one of the kits: # CAM35953 for a 6 gallon water heater or # CAM35963 for a 10 gallon. Apparently the PVC ones do not hold up well.
