Recommended Wheels and Tires for 1965 Aristocrat Trailer

Updated 02/20/2018 | Published 02/19/2018

Question:

Are these solid 14inch 5.4.5inch wheels still safe to run? How do these old wheels compare in quality to for example a spoke Dextar?1965 aristocrat trailer wheels

The Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel with Offset - 14" x 5-1/2" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Black # AM20304 is the older style wheel with a capacity of 1,870 lbs. The benefit to these wheels is the option to use the baby moon caps # AM90086 for the classic styling.

The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel - 14" x 5-1/2" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - White Powder Coat # AM20352 is pretty much the industry standard in style and function and what comes on most factory trailers. It has a capacity or 2,040 lbs.

The quality is good on either, so it comes down to style and load capacity. The conventional wheels do have a slight offset, but not significant enough to harm use on a zero offset hub. For your 1965 Aristocrat, I personally like the baby moon look. If you want the combination of wheel and tires, I recommend the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 14" silver Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # 274-000053. This has a max load of 2040 lbs at 65 psi but also has a maximum speed of 75 mph.
