Question:
Good afternoon- I was hoping to find out if there is any issue installing the Equal-I-Zer EQ37101ET 1000/ 10000 gtw on a Rockwood 2104S GVW- 6125 lbs. 548 tongue wght. tow vehicle 4Runner with 7000 lb.max and 1095 max tongue wght. My thinking is that I can upgrade trailer later with room for this hitch. Thanks for any info to share-

Weight distribution systems are rated with a tongue weight range that you want your setup to land in the middle of. Because your Rockwood RV loaded weight will be between 6,000 and 7,000 pounds it's likely the tongue weight will be between 600 and 1050 pounds. A trailer's tounge weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight. You will need to choose a system based on the loaded tongue weight. .
In addition to the trailer's tongue weight you need to factor in the amount of weight stored behind the rear axle of your 2006 Toyota 4Runner because it acts as tongue weight for a weight distribution system. Depending on this weight you could be pushing the limits of a 1,000 pound rated system so I recommend going with the 1,400 pound.
I like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Bar, # EQ37140ET. This system has steel-on-steel friction which works to prevent and correct trailer sway in this unique weight distribution system. Sway control brackets ensure that your trailer stays in line with your tow vehicle. There a 2-5/16" Hitch ball and the shank is included.
Now if the tongue weight is under 1000lbs, I recommend the # EQ37100ET instead of the # EQ37101ET because it includes the adjustable shank.
