How does this unit protect the RV electronics differently from a surge protector?

The Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Analyzer # CAM55310 will offer 1,050 joules of surge protection. It has a dual function of not only a surge protector but also a tool to determine if the power supply is correctly wired to protect your RV electronics before you even make the connection to your RV power or check for damage before reconnecting following a power surge.
