Hi Kelvin, you can absolutely use the Power Watchdog without WiFi or Bluetooth.
Models like the 50 amp # HU62VR and the 30 amp # HU32VR will still provide their surge protection and electrical monitoring as soon as you plug them in, so you are not leaving your RV unprotected if you choose not to use the app. If you ever want to adjust the basic settings, you can do that using the physical buttons on the unit, so you are not dependent on a phone or wireless connection. The Bluetooth and WiFi features are simply there if you want the added convenience of checking your power status and alerts from your phone. If you decide not to connect them, the built in indicator lights will still let you know the unit is working, making it a simple plug and go setup.
Even if you never plan to use the app features, I still highly recommend the Power Watchdog. It is one of the best RV surge protectors available thanks to its reliable protection and easy to understand status indicators, so you are getting an excellent surge protector first, with the app simply being an optional bonus if you ever decide you want those extra monitoring features.
What’s your usual pedestal routine? Is there anything you’d love to simplify each time you hook up?
