Can Same Harness be Used when Switching From Curt Time Delayed to Curt Proportional Controller

Published 01/17/2018

Question:

I have a Curt time delay brake controller on my truck now. I would like to replace it with a Curt proportional controller. Will the wiring harness be the same? Can I just unplug the old controller and replace it with the new one?

To replace the existing trailer brake controller on your 2009 Ford F-150 with a Curt proportional unit, such as the Curt TriFlex # C24VV, you can indeed use the same Plug-In Adapter part # C51436 that you used before. You will just need to unplug your old unit and plug the adapter end into the new Curt controller.

The TriFlex is a really nice, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your F-150. It features 9 sensitivity (boost) settings to let you adjust the initial braking power along with integrated safeguards to protect your vehicle and trailer.
