Whenever hardwiring a brake controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, to a vehicle, like your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, we always recommend using a circuit tested like part # PTW2992 to verify wire functions. The only time that this isn't necessary is if the wires on your Sprinter are already labeled.
Previously we have found that the following wires on your Sprinter will connect to the follow functions on your brake controller:
Black w/Brown Stripe - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
Red/Yellow - 12V Power for Brake Controller
Black w/ Blue Stripe - Brake Controller Pin on 7-Way
Brown - Ground
Since you are looking at a Black w/Red stripe wire I recommend testing your wiring to see which wires carry which functions.
If you have tested everything and you have made the correct connections but you are still having problems let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
