Tip to Fit Carriage Bolt and Spacer through Access Hole of 2018 Volkswagen Atlas for Hitch Install

Hi, I purchased the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch Item # C13366, but Im not able to install it. The carriage bolt do not fit through the access hole. I have taken some photos. Can you please let me know if you can propose any solution to this ? Thanks,

I checked the install instructions for the Curt hitch part # C13366 that you referenced which is listed as a fit for your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and they mention that if you can't get the carriage bolt and spacer to fit through the access hole you may need to remove some underbody coating to allow it to pass through. It sounds like thats what you have going on.

What I would recommend is use a metal file or a dremol to widen the access hole slightly so that you can get the plate and bolt to pass through properly.
