I do have a few items you can look for that will give you an idea as to whether or not your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox came equipped with the factory tow package (K5L) or not but the only sure fire way to tell would be to obtain your VIN and contact the dealer as they would be able to confirm if your vehicle came equipped with the factory tow package.
From my research, the factory towing package on your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox came with a transmission and engine oil cooler. Therefore, if you are looking for a trailer hitch receiver and trailer wiring harness I recommend using both the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76419 and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118750.
The above trailer hitch receiver has the highest rating towing and tongue weight capacity of any other trailer hitch receiver we have listed as a fit for your vehicle. I have attached a photo to show you what the hitch will look like while installed on the vehicle in addition to an installation video on that very same vehicle.
In regards to the trailer wiring harness, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness is a direct plug and play option. All you will need to do is "t" into the factory taillight connectors for installation. In addition to a simple installation, Tekonsha tends to have the best reviews on their wiring harnesses. This is also the only harness we have for your vehicle at this time. To complete your towing setup you will also need a ball mount. In order to choose the correct ball mount you will want to measure from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver tube opening and subtract this figure from the distance from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler (while level). Once complete, the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 should work for you but if it does not I have also attached a list of our ball mount selection.
You might also want to consider is the Draw-Tite QSP Trailer Hitch Silencer and Cover for 2" Hitch Receivers part # 63080. The Draw-Tite QSP will seal the trailer hitch receiver while not in use to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hitch opening.
