Recommended Replacement Trailer Tire For P255/75R15
Published 10/27/2017 >
Question:
Hi, I own a home built trailer, but the wheels have P255 75/15 size tires on it, and I’m wondering if there is a replacement trailer tire not passenger that you guys have, because I’m worried about the rim size for the wheel. It seems very thick for a trailer tire..... would a 10 ply 255 70 r15 work or is it too skinny to work with the rim that I have? Thanks for your help!

I did some research and the tires we have in our selections available will be "too skinny" to work with your rim.
We do have tire and wheel combinations that would work if you are willing to replace everything. For example, Item # LHAW124 is a Westlake ST225/75R15 radial tire and wheel combination with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern that has a maximum load capacity of 2,830-lbs at 80 psi. If you send me your bolt pattern and trailer weight capacity, I can make a correct recommendation.
No matter what tire you choose, make sure to get tires designed for trailers. They are made differently than vehicle tires and have reinforced sidewalls and other design features that are specific to trailers and hauling heavy loads.
