The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31198 referenced in your question has a length of right at 2-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the receiver.
I went out to our warehouse to take a look at the 7 to 8 inch hitch extenders we have available. I found that the closest extender we have available to fitting flush against the 2 inch receiver on your vehicle is the Brophy Hitch Extender # HE06. From the center of the hitch pin hole to where the receiver expands, there is a distance of 2-5/8 inches. This will leave just 1/8 of an inch of the skinnier shank portion exposed outside of the hitch receiver on your vehicle.
This Brophy Extender will fit perfectly inside the 2 inch receiver and features a 7 inch extension. Please just keep in mind that when using any kind of hitch adapter, the tongue weight capacity on the trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent. For example, the vertical load limit of 500 pounds on the mentioned Curt Hitch will be reduced to 250 pounds when using an adapter.
I have attached a short video demonstration on the Brophy Extender for you to check out.
