Scissor Jacks Slowly Lowering on Their Own

Question:

Hi Two years ago I purchased 4 scissor jacks. The only making on them is C.V.S. Inc. I replaced my stock jacks on my Trailmanor. The new jacks have a great deal more travel per revolution then my old ones had. The issue is the jacks wont stay up. They slowly rotate on their own till the trailer hits the ground. Jakcks were rated for 5000 lbs each, my trailer weighs 2000 lbs empty. Can you advise?

I spoke with my contact at Ultra-Fab, who is one of the leading names in stabilizer jacks, and she said that she has never come across the issue that you are having. The best we could come up with is if you are using the stabilizer scissor jacks to jack up your trailer instead of stabilizing it once it is already jacked up then that could have possibly damaged the scissor jacks.

Since your scissor jacks seem to be defective I recommend checking with the manufacturer to see if they have a warranty and what that warranty might include. If you bought them used and you can't use the warranty then I recommend replacing them.

A great option for replacing them would be the Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks # UF48-979002 which have a 24" lift and have a support capacity of 6,500 lbs per jack. Keep in mind that these are supposed to help support or stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight. They should not be used to lift your trailer.
