Where do the Brackets Install in Relation to the Weld Stops on the Reese Landing Gear # RP500708

Updated 08/24/2017 | Published 08/23/2017

Question:

I just received a set of Reese fifth wheel jacks. I have a 2007 Arctic Fox trailer. The mounting brackets do not line up so modification is going to be needed. I was wondering why the tabs were supposed to be in between the hangers, I noticed on the Ultra Fab jacks they say to put them both on the bottom. This makes more sense to me, to have the trailer weight on both tabs. what are your thoughts?

When you install your Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set # RP500708 you will want the brackets to either be on the outsides of the weld stops or the insides of your weld stops. This will keep your landing gear in place when it is moving up and down.

That is also why we give the outside to outside and inside to inside dimensions (see attached picture) on almost all of our landing gear sets. This will allow you to measure your current landing gear to see if you need to adjust anything. Since I am not sure on which specific product you saw the recommendation to install the brackets to the bottom side of both the top and bottom weld stop I cannot really address it aside from saying that it is incorrect information. If you let me know where you saw it exactly I can look into it for you.
