12 inch Trailer Wheel and Tire with over 80 MPH Speed Rating
Published 08/17/2017 >
Question:
What is the speed rating for this tire. I assume because its not listed its probably 65 mph. Im looking for a radial tire with wheel for a kayak trailer. I travel long distances a lot, and routinely go 80 mph. I have a 4.80x12 tire on there now, but they look to be dry-rotted so Im looking to replace. I know you have the Taskmaster 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range C tire which has the mph rating I am looking for but Im afraid on real long trips the tires might be inferior to a radial tire.

The speed rating of the tire on the part # AM31208HWTB is 65 mph. In the 12 inch wheel diameter there are only tires rated for 65. If you can go up a size then you can get into the higher speed ratings unless you want to go bias with a Taskmaster tire part # TTWSF53012C which has an 81 mph speed rating. This is a tire only. You could have it mounted on a 12 inch wheel of your choice at a local shop.
