Solution for Knob on Thule Spare Me That Just Spins and Doesn't Remove Bike Rack

Question:

I have the SpareMe 963 XTR rack on my Rav4 which Im getting ready to part with. Im trying to remove it from the spare tire and cant. Having misplaced the key I ordered a new one which allows the knob to rotate but nothing happens... it just rotates. Help! Need to remove it before I donate the car.

The lock is still locked if the knob just spins. You would need to turn the key the other direction. This will engage the knob to the threads and will allow the knob to loosen the rack.
