Recommended Trailer Jack for Easier Maneuverability on Boat Trailer

Published 07/14/2017

Question:

I have a boat trailer that is 102 inches that I need to maneuver into a 108 inch doorway. The jack that came with the boat isnt very maneuverable. Am I better off with an 8 inch single wheel or a smaller dual wheel application to get the best steering. Right now I have to kick the wheel a lot :

For your particular application, going with a single 8 inch wheel like what is on the Fulton XLT Bolt-Thru Swivel Trailer Jack # F141133 is going to be the better option.

A dual wheel jack can be more beneficial on surfaces other than pavement, as a single wheel tends to dig more into softer surfaces like dirt or gravel. However, in terms of pure maneurverability on pavement like what you are needing, a dual wheel might actually make things more difficult, as they will provide more surface area and contact with the ground. A single wheel is going to allow for easier movement.

This particular jack has a 1,500 pound weight capacity and a total lift of 12 inches. The retracted bracket height is 15 inches. I have attached a short video demonstration on this trailer jack for you to check out.
