Installing B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch on 2016 Ford F-350 with Bed Liner Rubber Mat
Updated 06/13/2017 | Published 06/11/2017 >
Question:
I have a 2016 Ford F350 longbed with the fifth wheel prep package. Im considering the BandW BWRVk3300 for a fifth wheel. I currently have a bedliner system that uses a thick rubber mat approx. 3/8. Will I need to remove the mat for installation of the fifth wheel. I had planned to just cut openings in the mat for the fifth wheel pucks and goose neck penetrations and use the Ford provided covers when the hitches are not in use.

The B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3300 referenced in your question is a great choice and is confirmed to fit your 2016 Ford F-350 long bed with the factory rail kit. If you wish to cut portions of the rubber mat on your truck bed to allow for the Companion to install, you can certainly do so. However, keep in mind that you will need to cut a bit more than just the outline of the factory pucks. You will need to make sure that the leg bases are able to sit down low enough on the truck bed for the hitch to secure inside the factory puck sockets. I have attached an image so you can get a better idea of what you will need to cut.
Depending on the type of rubber mat you have, it may be easier to simply roll up or remove the mat when the hitch is in use.
I have included a demonstration video on the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for you to check out.
