Question:
I am looking at adding a transmission cooler to my 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE FWD. By adding the cooler I would bypass the radiator. My question is, what transmission cooler would you recommend and where would be a good place within the engine bay to put this cooler?

For your 2005 Toyota Sienna, I recommend looking at the Derale Transmission Cooler # D13503. This is an excellent plate-fin cooler that measures 11 inches wide x 8-3/4 inches tall x 7/8 inches deep. This will certainly prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. You can add the Universal Bendable Metal Mount Kit # D13002 to make installation a bit easier.
The best location for installing this or any aftermarket transmission cooler is between the vehicle's grille and AC condenser core. This will allow for the most airflow possible, thus the greatest efficiency and maximum cooling ability. A general rule when choosing the best transmission cooler for your vehicle is to simply find the biggest unit that can fit into this location. I recommend measuring that area on your Sienna to ensure the Derale Transmission Cooler will work.
I have attached a demonstration video on this product as well as a couple of articles on transmission coolers that you may find helpful.
