When it comes to picking out the best roof cargo carrier for your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser a lot really depends on what you are looking to use it for and what you are hauling. Typically the higher end cargo boxes are made out of stronger materials which helps them to be a little more sturdy than some of our entry-level options.
If your Cruiser just has the side rails that run front to back but no crossbars then you will want to install Thule WingBar Evo Bars # TH711400 for Silver or # TH711420 for Black, along with the Foot Pack # TH710401.
For a roof cargo box I recommend going with a box from the Yakima SkyBox line. The have the 12 cu ft # Y07334, 16 cu ft # Y95AV, 18 cu ft # Y07336, and 21 cu ft # Y07337 options.
The SkyBox series will allow you to access your cargo box from either side which makes it easier to load and unload equipment plus it comes with keys to lock the sides for added security. The adjustable clamps make the SkyBox boxes compatible with almost any crossbar style out there and they also feature a an aerodynamic design to help reduce wind noise and drag.
