Differences Between P3 and P2 Brake Controllers
Published 02/24/2017 >
Question:
Could you provide the advantages of the Tekonsha prodigy 3 compared to the prodigy 2? I have a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado 4 wheel drive pickup. Also, are the Tekonsha brake controllers transferable to other tow vehicles?

If you have never used a brake controller before, the P2 # 90885 will be easier to learn on and use than the P3, # 90195. The P3 has several features the P2 doesn't including the ability to change the LED screen color, change the language, and the biggest difference is the diagnostics. Instead of flashing a code you would have to look at the P3 has clear messages telling you what the problem is.
Other than that the controllers function in the same way and mount in the same way. I have included links to video reviews on both controllers for you to compare.
The controller can pretty easily be transferred to other vehicles as they basically just unplug at the back.
