The Hitch Adapter # HTAD is 9-1/2 inches from pin hole to the 2 inch opening. It will fit into Class I or Class II 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver providing you with a 2 inch. It's not able to be used for towing but it will work to carry a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other accessory.
You should know that using an adapter like the # HTAD will reduce your tongue weight by 50 percent. The hitch receivers we have available for your 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid are rated for 200 pounds of tongue weight. So with the adapter you will only be able to carry 100 pounds. And that will be taken up by everything on the hitch, a cargo carrier and the cargo, or a bike rack plus the bikes.
You'll also need pins and clips, # PC2 for the 1/2 inch and # PC3.
