What Would Happen if Trailer Brake Assemblies Were Installed On Wrong Side of Trailer

Would it be detrimental if a left side brake drum was used on the right side?

Damage wouldn't necessarily occur but the braking power would be drastically diminished. You would need get the correct side assembly on your trailer axle.
