Need 15 Inch Rim With Positive Offset to Decrease Trailer Width

Updated 05/11/2016 | Published 05/09/2016

Question:

Hello there. We went to the state patrol and were told that our trailer was too wide because the tires were sticking out. Our tire size is 7.00 x 15. What rims should we get to make our tires as narrow as possible? Will your 15 x 5 rims work for our tires? Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a nice day.

You'd need to find a wheel with a positive offset, which would move the tire closer to the trailer. If your trailer has a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern (see linked FAQ article) we offer a conventional wheel with a positive 1/2 inch offset, part # AM20504. This wheel would decrease the width of your trailer by 1 inch.

I might be able to find a wheel with a slightly larger offset, but I'd need to know your wheel bolt pattern. If you'd care to reply directly to this email with that information, I'd be happy to look into it further for you.

The # AM20522 wheel you looked at has a zero offset, which means the wheel's mounting plate is centered along the thickness of the wheel.
