Question:

I plan to mount/carry a portable generator on part # cc 255. Should I take the generator down before use or can I run the generator while mounted on the carrier? I understand that it might be louder during operation because its ear level.

As long as you have the generator secured on the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier, part # CC-255, you can run the generator while it is mounted on the carrier.

I recommend using s-hook ratchet straps like part # SM54FR. These are 1-inch straps that are 10-ft long, and it has a capacity of 500-lbs.

The tray of the # CC-255 has holes that you could install eye-bolts through to give the straps a place to grab, or you can use the holes that are on the sides of the tray to use with strap hooks. I have attached a photo of the tray with a generator secured with straps using those holes you can check out. .

I purchased this tray from you to hold a generator but am questioning if we can run the generator from the tray. As it sits above the propane tanks, is their danger in running a gas or propane generator so close? Thanks

Having the generator this close shouldn't be an issue. I would just make sure that its exhaust isn't facing the tanks. If you're really concerned then of course you can always just move the generator when it's being used.
