looking for the best platform bike rack for my crosstrek. 2 bikes only. and with locking hitch pin and cable included. several recommendations from value to premium. i like the wheel mount but recommend frame too. plus 1 1/4 - 2 inch hitch.

Your 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek could be fitted with either a 1-1/4-inch Class I light-duty hitch like # DT24959 or a higher capacity 2-inch Class III hitch like # C13135.
We do offer 2-bike platform style hitch bike racks that will fit in both hitch sizes, one of which is the Swagman XTC-2 rack # S64670. This wheel-and-frame-mount rack accommodates bikes up to a 66-inch wheelbase and a 35-lbs-per-bike weight capacity.
If you prefer a rack that makes contact only with the wheels then you may prefer the Saris Freedom SuperClamp # SA4025F. This rack provides better ground clearance thanks to its 5-inches of rise in the shank, it allows for more clearance between the rack and the vehicle (a full 12-inches)and it offers a 60-lbs-per-bike weight capacity. It is USA-made. If you have delicate carbon frame bikes the this rack would be a great option since it avoids frame contact.
You'll want to take a look at the car's hitch to check the tongue weight (TW) rating which will appear on its safety sticker. The combined total weight of the rack you choose plus your 2 bikes cannot exceed either the car's or the hitch's TW rating.
