16k Reese Sidewinder Replacement for 10k Reese Revolution on 2013 Rockwood Signature Ultralite

Updated 03/10/2025 | Published 03/28/2016

Question:

Can I remove the revolution 10k and replace it with the revolution 16k? I want to replace the entire unit. The pin box on my 10k bent where the 2 bolts go through and I dont trust the 10k anymore. My unit is about 9950#. It is a 2013 Rockwood Signature ultralite 8280ws

We will have a Sidewinder (same as Reese Revolution) that would work as a replacement for your 10k model. But first we have to determine which pin box you have. Most likely your frame is designed to take a Lippert 1621 pin box as that is what customers with similar Rockwood Signature Ultralits have came back and told us but we need to be sure.

Up on the pin box there should be a plate or sticker that will say Lippert 1621 or just 1621. If so then you know the part # RP34FR will work and will have a 16k capacity.

I was wondering if the sidewinder was compatible with an andersen hitch

The Andersen Hitch is not compatible with Sidewinder Pin Boxes unless you were to lock out the turret - which would defeat the purpose of the Sidewinder. You will need to go with a standard, fixed 5th wheel hitch.

Hello Jameson, I took a reese sidewinder off of my 2015 Rockwood ultralight and tried to put a reese gooseneck pin box, does not seem to be the most idea situation, was wondering if you if you could let me know whic reese revolution/sidewinder? that I would need to purchase as I already got rid of the original pin box, without writting down the model number. Would appreciate any help, Thank you John M.

@JohnM So based on previous customers we haven't had ability to identify your pin box. What Goose Box did you attempt to install on your trailer? Was the issue that it didn't fit or was there something else going on? I attached a help article that details how to measure your pin box mounting brackets to determine what style you need. That would be best place to start.
