What 16-Inch Special Trailer Tire Carries the Highest Load rating

what the highest load rating that you have for a 16inch tire?

Expert Reply:

The highest-rated 16-inch trailer tire we offer is the Load Range G Provider ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWPRG235R16. This tire's maximum load capacity is a whopping 4080-lbs at 110-psi cold tire pressure when used in a single-tire application. Capacity drops to 3640-lbs if used in a dual-tire configuration.

This radial carries an M speed rating of 81-mph maximum. It fits 16-inch rims with widths of 6, 6-1/2, 7 and 7-1/2-inches.

Trailer tires should always be fully inflated to their maximum cold psi pressure as noted on the tire sidewall.

I currently have a 2017 Residential 5th Wheel 40.6ft. Empty Weight is 12,500lbs. Loaded 15,800lbs. With 2 8,500 Tandem Axles with 235/85R16 10plys Load Range E. I bought it new. My Brother in Law told me that I should Replace the 10plys with 16plys Load Range G sooner than later to hold the Fully Loaded Rate while my wife and I Travel because we live in our 5th Wheel Full Time. Can you please tell me what is your opinion. Other RVERS have told me that Tire Centers usually will give us a trade in Value if we buy new Upgraded Tires. 71562

I honestly think upgrading to Load Range G tires is a really good idea, especially since you live in the trailer full-time. This extra capacity is just going to help the tires better support the full trailer's weight and will likely lead to a longer lifespan so you don't have to replace them as often. The 14-ply Provider Load Range G # TTWPRG235R16 will work great on your trailer. We don't have a 16-ply unit available. 58568

I am replacing 4 living Quarters, 3 horse trailer tires. It currently has Michelin LTX 235/85 R 16.We live in AZ so heat is an issue. What is you opinion of Taskmaster Provider HD? 69996

Reply from Chris R.

By "HD" I believe you are referring to the 14-ply Provider # TTWPRG235R16 that Adam recommended. Taskmaster doesn't have a specific HD/Heavy Duty brand of tires so if you are asking about something else just let me know! This Provider tire though is extremely well made and in my honest opinion would work great on your trailer that sees excessive heat. All Provider radial tires are bake tested to ensure the rubber holds up over time. You might already have these but using covers like the Adco # 290-3972 will also drastically improve their lifespan by preventing dry rot while it's in storage. 57100
