Question:
Hi, Is it possible to install a trailer hitch with a 2inch receiver on this vehicle? My dealer wont do it, but Ive gotten quotes from other shops that will. From what I understand, its easy enough to do myself. Just wondering what hitch to buy. Trailer Hitch for 2015 Golf Sportwagon TDi 2.0L Thanks in advance!

Trailer hitches are designed by our manufactures and they decide based on the vehicle's weight capacity which sized hitches will be available to the consumer. It looks like your Golf SportWagen isn't rated for much weight which is why the only aftermarket option is a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
The Class I hitches that are available for your 2015 Volkwagen Golf SportWagen TDi 2.0L are the Curt # C11411 and the Curt # C11422. Both are only rated for 200lbs tongue weight and 2,000lbs towing which is great for bike racks or light-duty towing, but you will ultimately be limited to your vehicle's weight capacity. I cannot recommend installing a 2 inch receiver trailer hitch, but if you decide to do so you will need to be sure to not exceed the weight capacity of your vehicle.
If you'd like to tell me what you plan on using your hitch for I can help you figure out if it can be done with the 1-1/4 inch version. We do offer a variety of hitch accessories that are compatible with the 1-1/4 inch receiver.
I have linked the parts mentioned above as well as some accessories that will fit a Class I 1-1/4 hitch receiver.
