Question:
What Trailer tire sizes will replace a P185-75R14 tire. How can measure a rim to determine tire sizes will fit.

A tire size that starts with a P is not a trailer tire. Trailer tires have ST before the size indicating Special Trailer. Tires with a P are passenger vehicle tires and should not be used on a trailer. The issue is that trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than P tires so they can handle more vertical load.
The wheels are probably vehicle wheels too and should not be used on a trailer. None of the 14 inch trailer wheels will fit that tire size and none of the 14 inch trailer tires will fit the wheel size you have.
The solution is to replace the tires and wheels with trailer appropriate products such as # TTWA14RWS which has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, white spoke wheel, and an ST205/75D14 trailer tire.
The trailer may also have a sticker or plate on the frame near the front that lists the tire size recommended by the trailer manufacturer. I have included some links on trailer tires and wheels for you.
