Question:
Id like to set up a winch for my tilt snowmobile trailer to load disabled sleds. This trailer has a 3inch wide tongue. Alternatively, Can I install this winch stand on a long 2inch hitch ball mount behind the ball. What are the dimensions of the winch stand? Any other ideas to mount on the 3inch wide trailer tongue?

Expert Reply:
The CE Smith winch stand # CE31013G is not designed to attach to a ball mount and a ball mount is not designed to have anything attached to it for safety so the stand would have to be installed on the trailer though it is not wide enough for a 3 inch tongue.
If you plan on using a hand winch then you could use the universal right angle mounting bracket # DL24110 though if the trailer has a straight pole tongue it may require some fabrication to get it installed in the right place.
Another option is to use a StrongArm winch # DL25200 and ball adapter winch plate # DL24053.This will allow you to mount the winch on the vehicle side without a permanent attachment to the ball mount or vehicle.
