Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Dutton-Lainson ball adapter plate for your StrongArm SA series electric winches. Now this adapter plate will allow you to instantly mount your electric winch onto a hitch ball. This goes over the hitch ball, the opening right here, the hitch ball must have a one and seven eighths inch R two inch diameter. Again, it is designed to work on the StrongArm SA series electric winches. Basically, you'll just line the winch bolt pattern up with these studs here, bolt the winch to this adapter plate, and then you just slide this pear-shaped cutout over the hitch ball and you're ready to winch.
This has a nice zinc-plated, tough plate finish to it. It is made in the USA. I wanna go through a few dimensions here. The overall length on the plate from one end to the other is gonna be right at eight and a half inches. The width, one side to the other, is four and a half inches wide.
Now the studs right here, you can see there's two here and then one back here, the dimension between the two studs, if we go center to center, is two and a half inches. And if we go from the center of these two front ones to the very back one, it is gonna measure right about three inches. It does include the three nuts and the flat washers. And the stud size is a half inch by 13 coarse thread. So basically you just line the studs up with the winch, put this onto the bottom of the winch, put your washer on, put your nuts on, tighten it down, and then the winch will be attached to this plate.
And then you just take this plate and hang it over the hitch ball and you're ready to winch. But that should do it for the review on this Dutton-Lainson ball adapter plate for the StrongArm SA Series electric winches.

Just bolt the winch to the plate, slide the pear-shaped cutout over the ball, and you're ready to go.We bought this for a different winch, but found it easy to just drill new holes to where we needed them on the mounting plate. The photos are self-explanatory - attach the plate to a block of wood so it can be inserted into the drill press clamp.
I also made an attachment "lock" for the hitch bracket. The template was tested first to assure fit, then the final metal plate was cut out and secured so that it swiveled. A pin holds it in place when "closed."
I haven't needed it yet but it looks like it will work just fine.
It's a directional problem solver for a horizontal application. I use it in conjunction with my D- L Strongarm winch to raise my boat dock from the water.
Bolted this to the StrongArm Winch and went to work. We are using this on our work barge for pulling 4x4 dock supports out of 8 feet of silt and 3 feet of blue clay on the outlet to Chautauqua Lake. This ,with are barge built on Perma Floats, is getting the job done.
I used it to winch a 69 Mustang on a uHaul auto transport trailer using the Ram bumper trailer ball as an anchor. It worked fine. The uHaul trailer was attached to the 2” receiver under the Ram bumper.
I had purchased an electric boat winch and this part was missing so I ordered this one and it is working very well.
The ball adapter plate did exactly what I needed it to do. I mounted a winch on the plate and anchored that to the concrete floor in my garage. The whole setup is used to winch my boat up an incline and into the garage. Works great.
Fit my Master Lock 2953AT 12-Volt DC Portable Winch. As a replacement for the plate I lost just perfectly.
