Does the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Tailgate Have a Weight Capacity

With this part being plastic, I am concerned about its strength. I am looking at replacing a dented one for a farm truck where I haul feed and other materials. I dont want to worry about placing a few hundred pounds of feed on the tailgate and it cracking.

I spoke with my contact at Stromberg Carlson and they said that do not give the tailgate # VGT-70-4000 a weight rating because it is not designed to hold any large quantity of weight. They said in the open position, the tailgate will hold a small toolbox, but it is not designed to hold two or three adults at the same time.

Hey Christopher, there isn't a way to attach a tailgate backup camera to the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate #VGT-70-4000 that you referenced. It just does not have an attachment or adapter made for that. This is only…

The Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate #VGD-10-4000 has a 100 lb weight capacity so you will need to be mindful of what you put on it, especially if you are going to loading/unloading a 5th wheel hitch.
