How to Correct Trailer Whose Spring Hangers Do Not Line Up With Spring Seats

Question:
The trailer I built is for spring centers 57inch wide. Axle Spring center to center is 58. This means, to adjust for my mistake, my front shackles will sit 1/2inch to the outside of the frame. They would be off center and sticking out 1/2. Is there something I can do to correct it, such as weld a plate to the frame and then weld the hangers to the plate? I really would not like to redo the frame if possible.

You will need to have the spring seats removed to have them or new spring seats welded to your axle at the correct locations to match your trailer's hanger spacing. For a 3-inch round axle rated between 5200- and 7200-lbs use part # TRSS300; for a 2-3/8-inch diameter 3500-lb axle use part # TRSS238; for a 1-3/4-inch diameter 2000-lb round axle use part # TRSS175.
If you cannot re-position the spring seats to match the hanger spacing then you can have a qualified welder install new material on the trailer to allow hangers to be positioned appropriately.
