What Holds the Weight of a Trailer Wheel, the Studs or the Pilot Hole

on my 5 hole wheel the center axle hole is larger then the hub. What is holding the weight, the studs?

Yes, if the pilot diameter of your wheel is larger than the center of the hub then the lug nuts/studs are what is holding the weight of your trailer.
