Question:

I have a brand new Landmark with the electric over hydrolic brakes. My brand new Dodge 3500 with a factory installed brake controller what hooked up to the trailer says trailer brake not hooked up. What could the problem be I have the controller on the truck set to the right settings also.

It could be as simple as a loose connection or dirty/corroded connector or even a problem with the brake magnets. There are a few quick tests you can do to determine where the problem is. Start by first disconnecting the trailer. Then move on to the truck side trailer connector. Many times, dirt or corrosion can cause a short in a trailer connector. Make sure the truck and the trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out.

You can test the brake output pin with a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 and it should only show power with the manual override. If it shows power any other time, then there is a short somewhere between the connector and the brake controller you will need to track down.

You may want to have the ITBM checked out by a Dodge dealer service shop. It is likely the Dodge controller does not work that well with the EOH unit. If you let us know which EOH system you have on your truck we can see if it is compatible with the OEM brake controller.
