Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Display Remains on After Vehicle is Turned Off

Question:
I just installed a prodigy p3 and the display is constantly on. Is this supposed to be and/or will it drain the battery?

Assuming the controller was correctly installed, what you're seeing is normal.
The controller will go into a sleep mode after about 15-20 minutes of no movement or activity, at which time the display will go blank. The LCD display draws very little power. In order to drain the battery, the vehicle would need to sit for a few weeks without being started. Brake controllers do not have off switches, which is understandable if you consider the possible consequences of forgetting to turn it on.
I always tell people they can unplug the harness from the rear of the controller if they're planning on leaving the vehicle for awhile. Just don't forget to plug it back in.
