Is There Downside to Going with 7500 Air Lift Kit Over 5000

Updated 12/29/2025 | Published 11/29/2025

Question:

I have a 2007 Silverado 3500 dually and will be hauling a northern lite truck camper about 4000 lbs loaded and occasionally towing an enclosed trailer with about 225-250 lbs of tongue weight. It will require a 42” hitch extension. Is there a downside to installing the 7500 airlift bags over the 5000’s? The picture is of the setup we had prior to being stolen and gives an idea of what bathe new setup looks like.

Hey Paul, there really isn't any downside to going with the 7500 rated Air Lift kits like the part # AL57575 over the 5k rated kits aside from them costing a little more so for you I would definitely recommend the # AL57575. Are you wanting a compressor too? Did the truck and camper get stolen?

Hey Paul, how did things turn out with the 7500 Air Lift bags on your Silverado and camper setup? Did they give you the support you were hoping for when towing the enclosed trailer? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up a similar rig.
