Question:
Im installing this vent on a 7x16 foot Charmac cargo trailer with a seamless, flat, aluminum roof. Is it necessary or helpful to use a layer of butyl putty tape between the galvanized vent flange and the aluminum roof? I plan to use urethane sealant on top of the flange, and over the screws in any case. Thanks.

It sounds like you have a good idea of what to do when installing your Ventline Roof Vent, part # V2092SP-29. You sure can use the butyl tape that comes in the kit like part # CAM25013 as you mentioned when completing the installation. The butyl tape is pliable and should provide a nice surface for the vent. You will want to make sure the surface is clean and free of dirt or moisture when using any sealer or tape.
Just to make sure everything is sealed really well you can use a sealer along with the tape to make sure there are no air leaks or chances for moisture to creep in. I recommend the Loctite RTV Sealer, part # LT37467 for the job. Sealing the screws when installing them will help provide a nice barrier for you.
