How Cold Can it Be for Furrion Chill Cube Heat Pump to Still Work

Updated 03/03/2026 | Published 02/28/2026

Question:

Hello. Regarding the new Ducted Furrion Chill Cube w/Heat Pump... 1 Do you know how cold the temps can get down to while still using the heat pump? Can it be below freezing? Curious because I have seen the external fan collects the water and disperses it onto the evaporator to improve efficiency during cooling, but curious how that affect cold temp usage below freezing? 2 The additional notes in the description state that the AC on this unit is not compatible with models prior to 2024. I assume this just means there will be more steps to connect it vs a simple plug and play but it will still work just fine? Thanks!

Hey Chad, the heat pump that is on the Furrion Chill Cube with Heat Pump part # FR67TQ that you referenced is good till down around 40 to 45 degrees. Any colder than that and the heating capacity will be greatly diminished and it would be best to have a furnace.

Starting in 2025 there was a new law put in place that said that all RV AC units had to switch to a new refrigerant. So in making that conversion they had to redesign the entire ecosystem including the vents and thermostats so everything has to be replaced.

With that said the part # FR67TQ comes with everything needed to fully replace a non-ducted setup so with this kit you'd have everything needed and there wouldn't be any compatibility issues.

Thanks much. Just to clarify...you specifically mention that the non-ducted version comes with everything you need so there wouldn't be compatibility issues. Is this also true for the ducted version?

@Chad yes this is true for both. Both kits include everything needed to install.
