Lamp Out Light Comes On in 2014 Audi A6 When Trailer Is Connected and Trailer Lights Flash Quickly
Question:
hello, I have a 2014 Audi A6 that has a 7pin euro tow plug purchased and installed from Europe in the vehicle side. I wish to tow a small mc trailer that has a flat 4 connector and led tail lights. I tried using an active converter which enables the lights to work fine but the car keeps showing errors that the lamps are out. And the turn signals also flash quickly. Im ok with rewiring a new plug on the car side if easier. I also cant leave the converter attached because even without a trailer attached, because its active, the car thinks there is a trailer there. Ideally Id like a 7pin even if its flat adapter like on TR20141 that I can plug in when I need to tow. Please help! Thanks

It sounds to me like you are experiencing the hyperflashing phenomenon that can occur with LED lights. In this case I recommend wiring in load resistors, like part # ALEDRST1B, to the left turn, right turn, and running light circuits of your trailer. My suggestion is to wire these in right behind your taillights. On the left hand side, one for the left turn wire and one for the running light wire. For the right side you would do the same, one for the right turn wire and one for the running light wire so you will need four total. This should solve the issues that you are having.
Attached is an illustration that shows the correct way to install the load resistors.
We do not offer an adapter that will work with the 7 pin European style connector.
