Question:

I know you cant help with the 17 - 19inch setup of the rails, but where do you believe the Side Rails should be installed, 2inch in front of the axle?

As you know, the B&W 5th wheel trailer hitch # BWRVK3600 fits directly into the puck system on your 2014 Ram 3500. The height is adjustable from 17 to 19 inches like you said but you can also adjust the hitch front to back.

Since your Ram is a long bed I would configure the hitch so that the center of the hitch jaws are centered over the rear axle. This location will ensure you get the maximum capacity of the rear axle. I have included a link to the installation details for you that covers, among other things, the 12 different ways the hitch can be configured.

Moving the hitch closer to the truck cab also limits the distance between the back of the truck and the trailer. Putting it further back can cause steering, braking, and visibility issues.
