What Colors are Trailer Brake Magnets Wires
Updated 02/23/2015 | Published 02/21/2015 >
Question:
My magnet has all white wire. I see some that are all black wire, is there a difference in the magnet strength? I NEED ALL THE POWER I CAN GET.

Brake magnets are made to fit their specific brake assemblies. They are not made to be interchangeable between brake sizes or weight capacities. Some manufacturers do use different color magnet wires that correspond to the capacity. We know that Dexter typically uses a white wire for 6,000 pound assemblies.
I have linked a video that details replacement and wiring of a trailer brake magnet that should be helpful.
