I am looking for the correct torque specification for the backing plate bolts on a 5200 pound axle with electric brakes. There are five bolts that connect the backing plate to the axle. Thanks much!

Expert Reply:
According to Dexter Axle, the attachment bolts for a 5-bolt brake assembly should be torqued to 30-50 foot/lbs.
If you don't have a torque wrench handy, if you tighten the bolts until the lock washers flatten out, you'll be pretty darn close to that range.
