Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Tow-Rax Aluminum Battery Box. Now, this battery box will let you safeguard your battery from the elements, helps protect your trailer or your work area should the battery leak. It is designed to fit most Group 24 and Group 34 size batteries, but it also can be used as just a storage box for a variety of items. Now, it will include everything shown here on the table, it includes the battery box itself with the lid, it includes the battery hold-down with the threaded rods and the hardware for installation, comes with the lid latches with the hardware for installation, and over here you can see it comes with a 90 degree elbow and a PVC vent hose on it, I'm gonna show you where all these pieces go in a minute here, and it comes with the two rubber grommets. We'll start with the latches, but if you look on each side, you'll see a notch up here and then two holes here.
So basically, using the hardware, you would install your latch to the side there, and that'll allow you to latch the lid down into place, and then to release it, you just lift up on it to release it, so it makes it very easy to open and close the box. Now, there are two holes you'll see right here. These two holes are for the rubber grommets to fit in, and basically, what that does, those rubber grommets install in the holes and allows your battery cables to run through there and the cables won't rub up against the battery box, keeps it from getting damaged. Now, on the other side, you'll notice there's one hole, and what that one hole is for, that is for the installation of this 90 degree elbow with the PVC hose connected to it, and you'll install that into the hole right up here. And then that hose will just hang down, and what that does is that basically lets it to vent any battery fumes from out of the box, so they don't build up.
Now, this is a durable, lightweight aluminum construction, whole thing weighs about five pounds. You can see it has a nice machine finish to it, gives you a nice look. And also, one of the things, I wanna flip over the lid and show you on the inside lid, all the way around, has a nice thick rubber gasket on it, so that when you do latch it into place, it'll help seal it. Do wanna give you a few specs on this, the exterior dimensions I wanna give you. The width on it, it's right at 12 inches long, or I'm sorry, the length, 12 inches long.
The width on, it'll be right at 8 7/8 inches wide. And the overall height with the lid already installed on it is gonna be right at 10 7/8 inches tall. Now, I do wanna give you some inside opening dimensions, and I wanna show you the opening. Basically, there's about a 3/8 inch lip that hangs over all the edges, so what I'm gonna do is just measure the opening dimensions. So if we do the length of the opening dimensions, it's gonna be right at 11 1/8 inches.
The opening dimensions on the width, 7 3/4 inches. I don't know if I can show you the inside height. From the inside bottom to right up under that lip we're talking about is 10 1/4 inches tall. But again, you can just put your lid on there, and when you install your latches on each side, you just latch it into place to secure it to it. But that should do it for the review on this Tow-Rax Aluminum Battery Box.
