2014 Dodge Ram Pickup

Ordered this product for my 2014 Ram 1500 Quad Cab Express on 12/17/14 at about 8 PM PST. To my surprise it shipped that very same night and i received it on 12/22/14. The truck specific mounts are very beefy and fit perfectly. My only complaint is that when i took the mounts out of the box, the paint was chipping off the edges of one of them. It was coming off in large pieces all the way around the mount. I spent most of today 12/28/14 installing it myself. Got the mounts all in and all the holes drilled for the rails and then removed the rails for spray in bedliner install tomorrow. Once that is done i will re-install the rails and put my truck back together. I had to remove the splash guards from the rear fender wells and drop the spare tire. I also had to re-route one wire and modify the ring on the ground wire to still fit on the mounting bolt that is right next to the drivers side rear mount.

Did you need to drill holes for mounting brackets to the frame or were there mounting holes in the frame already?

Steven H.

Chris, There were no holes, I had to drill the frame. I did alot of looking around before i purchased these and i could not find a no-drill installation kit. I also could not find a cheaper price anywhere.

2015 Ram 1500

The bed rail kit shipped and arrived promptly. I had heard that installation on 5 1/2' boxes is difficult and that proved to be very true. That's not the fault of the product, but the instructions were vague enough and in one instance lacking in proper direction which caused two calls in order to get clarification. The response was quick and helpful. All in all, I got what I wanted when I wanted it without major surprises. Looks like a winner.

Product arrived within three Days. Everything was there. Instructions were OK. All went well. Took my time and was happy with the result. I live in Oklahoma and when I need something for my 5th wheel or truck, I go to E-Trailer. They are outstanding.

good product will be pulling fifth wheel camper using side winder hitch

Box arrived today .... (Est. was 7-23 - 7-28) can't complain about that part... I did have to call etrailer, because the box arrived damaged and partly opened. However, they were very helpful in making sure everything ordered was in the box.... Everything did arrive intact....
Will order from again if need anything....

by:

Local Yipes Stripes wanted $600 for rails, installed on my truck.
I bought these for about a third of the cost and paid local camper dealer $180 to install.
Total Savings ..... around $200

And shipping is FAST!

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2014 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
All of the 5th wheel trailer hitch installation kits for your 2014 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 foot bed will require some frame drilling. You can use # RP30035-386 for your truck. I have linked the instructions to the right for you. You mentioned having a slider hitch but a slider will not allow you to make 90 degree turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer together. Also, you will not be able to slide the hitch back with the trailer connected without removing the tailgate. You will have...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer hitch for 2014 Dodge Ram with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
On beds shorter than 6 feet you will need a fixed hitch and a Sidewinder on the trailer to be able to make tight turns. For a 5th wheel trailer hitch installation kit you can use kit # RP30035-386. For a hitch, if 16,000 pounds is enough for the trailer I recommend the Reese # RP30047. It has a 4-Way pivoting head and dual jaws for a secure connection. For a 20K version use # RP30928. A Sidewinder adds an additional 22 inches of clearance and will allow you to make tight turns. I have...

  • Can a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch be Installed on a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
The Reese semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-386 is a fit for the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed. Being a semi-custom kit means that there is still some drilling that needs to be performed but not as much as a universal kit, but more than a custom kit. I have included links to the installation instructions for you. Since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed, you will need to use either a fixed 5th wheel hitch or a slider that stays locked in the tow position at all times AND you will...

  • Recommended Fifth Wheel And Gooseneck Hitches For 2012 Ram 1500 With Short Bed
If your 2012 Ram 1500 did not come with the factory tow package included, you will have to do some drilling in the frame when installing a fifth wheel hitch or a gooseneck hitch. Unless it is either stated in the manual or if a dealership would recommend against towing a fifth wheel trailer, I am not aware of there being an issue with fifth wheel towing. If you decide you would like a fifth wheel, you are right that a Sidewinder will be needed with your truck with the short bed. We would...

  • Replacement Hardware to Install RBW 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2013 Dodge Ram Short Bed
To install your Lil Rocker 5th wheel in your 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, my technical contact at Reese recommends you use the Semi-Custom Installation Kit # RP30035-386. This kit contains the rails, mounting hardware, and brackets. He said that although rails are basically universal, they do not have data to verify that the rails you have will match up to the brackets properly. The other reason to have your rails and brackets match is that your rails have not been tested with the Reese brackets,...

If your 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 has the V8 option you'll be perfectly fine to haul your Rockwood Signature 5th Wheel. I suggest getting the Reese Dual Jaw 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 which has a capacity of 16,000 lbs. That is plenty of meat to be able to haul your 5th wheel no problem! You will also need to get the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail # RP30035-386. • Can a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer
First, since your truck bed is shorter than 6 feet, you are going to have to use a fixed 5th wheel hitch in the truck and a Sidewinder replacement pin box on the trailer. The Sidewinder moves the pivot point on the truck back 22 inches so you can make tighter turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer together. Even with a Sidewinder, if the trailer is wide enough you might not have all the clearance you will need. The other issue is that Sidewinders only fit certain pin boxes. I...

The Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30051 and install kit # RP30035-386 are a confirmed fit and will install on your 2012 Dodge Ram 1500, but you may need to modify your bed liner depending on which type you have. Per the manufacture's instructions: Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic bed liners must be cut out of the way. Base rails may be installed on spray in liner. I have linked an image of this 5th wheel hitch installed in a truck with a bed liner for you...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2010 Ram 1500 Quad Cab
If you have a 6 or 8 foot bed you would want the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation kit part # RP50142-58. If you have a 5-1/2 foot bed you would want the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # RP30035-386. Both of these rail kits come with industry standard rails that are designed to fit Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky hitches. • Can a 5th Wheel Hitch be Installed in a 2014 Dodge Ram with Rambox
The issue with the Rambox is that the manufacturers of hitches and installation kits have not tested for fit on models with the Rambox. The issue is the bed is more narrow on models that have the Rambox feature. We have heard customers who have installed 5th wheel hitches in Rambox models. But they have to use Sidewinder replacement pin boxes to move the trailer pivot point back so as not to hit the stock pin box against the bed sides. • 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 5-1/2-foot Bed with Rambox Feature
No 5th wheel hitch manufacturers recommend their hitches for use in a Ram Box-equipped truck. The issue is the decreased bed width on models that have the Ram Box feature. Customers have told us that they have installed a 5th wheel hitch on models with Ram Boxes but it is not a practice recommended by hitch manufacturers nor etrailer.
