Having a propane or carbon monoxide gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of either, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When carbon monoxide is detected, the red LED will flash, and the horn will blare 4 times. When propane gas only or both propane and CO are detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensors are highly selective, they're designed to only sound the alarm for lethal gases, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane and CO Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

  • Replacement Carbon Monoxide Detector for Atwood 36681
You could use the 2-wire Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector part # RS34FR in place of the Atwood 36681 that you referenced. This would fit in the cut out you have now and has a flange that is large enough that would cover the hole.

  • Best Replacement For Safe-T-Alert 30-441-P RV Propane Gas Detector
Hello Scott, thanks for reaching out. The RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR can be used to replace your Safe-T-Alert 30-441-P detector but this is not a direct replacement. Basically, you will just want to be sure you have room for mounting the new detector. Ours has mounting holes that are 3-5/8" apart on the detector, and it has a small 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide bracket and a larger 7-1/4" long x 3-3/8" wide bracket. As long as you have room for it, the # RS34FR will...

  • How to Find an RV or Camper Replacement Carbon Monoxide Detector
While we do not have exact year, make, and model replacement trailer carbon monoxide detectors available, we do offer new units that can essentially replace those original parts. The RVSafe # RS34FR is my recommendation. It's a solid option and is CSA Certified. I have attached a video for review and additional information.

  • Recommended Replacement For An Atwood Propane Gas Detector 31013
Hi Brenda, The Atwood 31013 unfortunately has been discontinued so you'd need to go with a completely new LP gas detector. We have a couple of surface mount style detectors that come with trim rings that will cover the old unit's cutout hole so you won't have any ugly gaps to try and fill. They can come with either just LP detection or with Carbon Monoxide detection as well; and can be purchased in either white or black. • Correct Height for LP and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detector for an RV
Great question, Ludwig! The RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR can be placed closer to the floor because LP is heavier than air, and while CO is technically lighter than air, it disperses evenly in a room as opposed to pooling at the ceiling, so the placement of a CO detector isn't as crucial when it comes to height. If you are adding this detector new then I recommend shooting for the max 18" from the floor height just to get the best of both worlds, but if you're replacing...

  • Recommended Replacement Propane and Carbon Monoxide Detector for Old Atwood Detector
Hey J, unfortunately yes. Since the reset button does not work, then you'd need to replace the unit, which you can use the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS34FR. This replacement is also a carbon monoxide and propane detector, runs off of 12v power, and is white in color like the old one. If there is anything else I can do to help, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

  • Need Carbon Monoxide Detector To Replace Model 900-0140-LPM
Hello Brad, thanks for reaching out. We do have a carbon monoxide detector that can be used to replace your old unit. Here is what I recommend: - RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector - 12 Volt - 2 Wire - Black # RS54FR This detector is for CO2 and propane so it does need to be mounted between 4" and 18" off the floor. It comes with a small and large bracket which cover most applications. It is also available in white as part # RS34FR if you prefer that. It has a 5-year lifespan...

  • Replacement Recommendation for a Costar Model 12RV-D Monitor
Hey Craig, thanks for reaching out! I recommend using either the RV Safe Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector which comes in Black # RS54FR as well as White # RS34FR. These only install with two wires (red for power and black for ground) so whatever function your third wire carries won't be needed.

  • How To Install The RV Safe Carbon Monoxide And Propane Gas Detector
Changing your carbon and propane detector is a very simple process. If installing the RV Safe Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector Item # RS34FR you want to make sure your power is turned off and remove the old unit from the wall. Before disconnecting the wiring observe how it is wired. You simply have 12 volt power going to the unit and a ground. There will be one red wire and one black wire. The black is ground and the red is power.

  • What Propane Gas will Replace My CCI Controls Model No. 7719 LP Gas Leak Detector?
Hello Greg, The CCI Controls model number 7719 LP gas leak detector is an older model and it is recommended to replace it due to its age and potential for sensor failure. For a Propane gas detector replacement, I would go with the RV Propane Gas Detector - 12 Volt - 2 Wire - Black # RS44FR, or for white # RS64FR. If you needed one with a carbon monoxide detector as well, # RS54FR, or for white # RS34FR. These are the best options that we have for a replacement. It is an easy 2 wire...

If you push it down you can slide the detector up and then you'll need to remove the two mounting screws to get the entire assembly off the wall. To replace it, I recommend the RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector item # RS34FR in white or item # RS54FR in black. It measures 4-1/4" long x 2-5/8" wide x 1/2" thick so it won't stick out nearly as much. It comes...
