Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we'll take a look at this etrailer Anti-Rattle Locking D-shaped Hitch Pin for two inch hitches. Now this is a trailer hitch receiver lock. It's used in place of a standard pin and clip to prevent any theft of your two inch hitch accessories. The application for this lock is hitch accessories that have a D-shaped hitch pin that fit two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Basically, it's designed to fit the Benton brand products that we sell.
This is an anti-rattle pin. It reduces play and vibration in the hitch connection. Basically, when you install this, you'll use this lock washer and the nut that'll tighten down to eliminate any rattle. It does use a pick-proof screw and lock mechanism, to provide security. The rubber end under here, right here, and the textured lock core, make it very easy to grip the lock.
And then the plastic cover, you can see, that's tethered to it, you can just push that over there and it covers the key slot to help prevent internal corrosion. Now it does come with the two reversible automotive style keys. (keys tap) And just to show you how that'll operate, you'll just take one of the keys and you can put the key in either way. You can put it in that way, or if it's flipped the other side, you can also put it in that way. So it doesn't matter which side you put it in.
To unlock it, what you have to do is just sort of unscrew it, like you're unscrewing a bolt. And once you get far enough, it'll come right off (lock section thuds) just like that. And then we mention there's the nut (nut trills) and then there's the washer. So what you end up doing when you install this, you'll take those items off, slide this, and you can see it has a D-shape to it. So it's designed to fit the D-shape hitch pins.
Slide that through there, and then you put your lock washer on, put your nut on, and then just screw your nut all the way down. And then you'll just snug that up against your receiver and that'll keep it from rattling. And then after that's all done, you can just take your lock, line it back up, take your key and just start twisting it. Once you get it lined up, you can just start twisting it. And again, just like tightening down a bolt. And once it goes far enough, just pull this key out, (key clatters) put the cover on there, and that'll keep it locked on so nobody can access it. Now these locks also can be keyed alike to match other locks. What you'll do is just go up to the top of the product page and you'll see a section, it'll say keyed alike. It's a dropdown menu. You can click on that and then enter the number of locks into the quantity box. Now the inside pin length, which is gonna be right in here, is right at up two and five eighths inches. The overall length with the lock installed, it's about six and five eighths inches. When you take the lock off, the length of the bolt is about five and a half inches. And the bolt thread size right here is M12 by one and a half. But that should do it for a look at the etrailer Anti-Rattle Locking D-shaped Hitch Pin for two inch hitches.
In my photo, I added a step attachment and I use the anti- rattling attachment to secure it. I hate tailgaters, I’m hoping the attachment will protect the rear ended of my SUV and I also have a tilting bike rack, is another reason I order the hitch!
"anti-rattle locking hitch pin" does nothing to stop the wobble, and the lock feels very flimsy. I bet I could turn the tumbler with a screwdriver.
Safety for the trailer coming loose was a top priority, this did not come loose when towing.
I think this might be the only locking hitch pin that fits the e98874 cargo carrier. Thanks to Syrus for finding it; it is a D-shaped pin. Etrailer customer service is exemplary. The locking pin appears to fit perfectly. I used a little WD40 to help the keys go in and out easily. Very pleased.
Worked great for my application
The lock pin works great. I use it on the spare tire carrier (e98ZR)I purchased as hit requires a”D” shape pin. Key lock is easy to install and remove. Black color blends in with the hitch and tire carrier. It arrive on time.
Lets me park my car in a garage without worrying about my rack

Very nice heavy duty best I have found
