Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package, which is located in your cargo area, on the driver's side. You will have to remove the scuff panel and the cargo holder to access this port. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, insert the included 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

The vehicle wiring harness for the four pole connector to the trailer was very easy to install after watching the etrailer video. at this time I am leaving it inside of my Passport and taking it out when I need it. I may mount it on the trailer hitch later.

Installed the wiring harness today after installing the hitch. Again, the videos with my specific SUV was amazingly helpful. Things did not go as planned. Followed step by step but that one screw that held the last part of the side panel in place would not come out even trying what was suggested in the video. Luckily, I was able to remove the deep plastic holder to gain access to the accessory plug and plug in the harness. All good and in working order.

I bought originally back in May of 2023. Install was easy, everything worked after testing. I used it for my first trip in July 2023 and after getting to my destination the running lights on the trailer lights were staying on after vehicle lights were off. Etrailer worked with me and replaced it immediately. Great customer service. Kate was very helpful and professional. Gave me clear instructions for a warranty claim. The replacement came in quickly and it is working as it should.

2016 Honda Pilot
Great product that arrived earlier than expected. If you follow the video on etrailer associated with this product, you can't go wrong. I did find an extra pair of hands helpful to pull out the side panel when I both put in the ground screw and clipped in the module. But not essential. Personally, I did not find it necessary to remove the panel beneath the back seats because I could easily pull out the side panel far enough with just the lift hatch panel removed. I also opted not to attach the control module with sticky tape up and out of site. It did not adhere well to the plastic. Letting it "hang" gave me easy access if needed especially to the 10 amp fuse. But I did feed the attachment wires down into the jack compartment. Finally, put the 30 amp fuse into the slot labeled TRL MAIN. Shown on video
Finally, the little connector I purchase for $7 was worth it.

I'm so happy I used the wiring harness from Curt, it came with everything I needed except some 5200 sealant for the plug I put the wire through to go under my rig. The videos explained everything well, I didn't even have to take the side panel off to get to the factory Honda plug.

Initially, I had an issue finding the vehicle plug for the wiring harness connection (so I called Tech Support in a panic) It was concealed above the AC outlet and not visible rem, so I removed the cargo area side panel for access. After that it was a snap! Very easy.

2019 Honda Pilot
Everything went well as on your video except for one thing that has nothing to do with your product. The Phillips screw to remove the bottom left hook for the cargo net would not budge no matter how much torque I applied (some factory over- torquing screwup!). It took me 30 minutes by feel alone to locate the vehicle plug which was tucked up real high with wiring harness folded and taped so that you can’t bring the plug into view. Hard work working with your thumb and index finger trying to locate, then undo a wrapping of electrical tape on the harness. Honda makes a good job keeping you from reaching the plug without removing or pulling away the left rear interior quarter panel. The local Honda dealership had quoted me about $[xx] to install the hitch receiver and harness. Got it done for a lot less going through you folks. I got lucky getting my hand on that plug! It worked out at the end Thanks for the good video!

Again, fast delivery, great customer service. Installation on my 2020 Pilot was just like the (2019) video. The 2020 video was not out at the time I installed this. It was done without issue in about 30 minutes. Much easier than my 2015 CRV.
