This heater i installed myself on a 2015 Camry. Excellent product, as good as oem. There is no heatsink compound nor protective cap for the ac plug however. etrailer rep will be happy to find you one if needed. As for the grease, go for electronic shop or computer shop and buy heatsink compound for cpu. Forget the dielectric grease for automotive, wrong purpose.
The KH11813 block heater has worked great in my 2016 Toyota Corolla! I installed it, along with other winterizing necessities, and found that it was extremely easy and straight forward. The cavity that it fits in is on the driver's side of the motor just above the transmission. My wife was able to put it in place from the top after I removed the air cleaner box. Her small hands made it very easy to place, while I was able to clearly see the notch where the clip hooks from under the car without removing any parts. I've had it in service for about 2 months now and it has kept my block nice and warm in temps down to -30. I would highly recommend this heater to anyone that needs one.
Install was easy on my 2010 Tundra. It does make a difference getting the engine up to operating temperature faster when the outside temps are close to zero. I use a timer to set it and forget it. Works really well.
Well this item installed on my 2020 Toyota RAV4 did fit but it is not as easy as with earlier models and located on the front left hand side (down low) instead of on the right hand side bank. I used the factory block heater installation instructions as a guide but found some of the steps unnecessarily (for example removing the air box). In any case be prepared to do a lot of it by feel because you cannot see the hole it slides into in the block unless you use a mirror and flashlight. The installation process took me about 2 hours.
Attempted to install into a 2014 Tacoma. After removing the bracket the blocks the hole for the heater, the cartridge would not go in all the way. I discovered that the thickness of the cartridge where the plug connects to makes contact with the engine below the hole. I had to sand a flat part onto the heater in order for it to slide in flush.
The clip barely holds the heater in to the point where I couldn't trust it. I attempted to make the bend further down the clip so it could securely hold the heater in but the clip was fragile and snapped. Attempts to contact Kats/Five Star Manufacturing was a waste of time, they never respond. I resorted to making my own clip with stronger metal and a bend at the proper length and it can be trusted to hold now.
Do not purchase Kats/Five Star Manufacturing products with the expectation that they have your back if the product is faulty in some way. Purchase OEM block heaters, yeah they may cost a little more ($18 in this case) but you can expect the product to perform as expected.
already installed, took about 20 minutes, only issue is the clip is a little flimsy, had to bend it a bit to get a decent bite. thanks
I bought the car in Winnipeg MB with NO block heater when I got it home!! Luckily Etrailer had the heater I needed. Installation was a breeze and it works like a champ.
I installed this unit on my 2017 Tacoma when it had less than 10k on the odometer. Even with the engine bay clean and in like new condition, the heater was really difficult to install. The fit was really tight. I could not get it in the whole way and I did not want to tap on it with anything in fear of damaging the unit. With that said, it's in there and pretty much stuck. I have plugged it in during the cold months. When I fire up the truck in the morning getting ready to leave for work, I really can't tell if the Oil or Coolant are any warmer than if I didn't have the heater plugged in. Warm up times are about the same and the truck heater starts to warm up at the same time. I also don't know if it's ok to have the thing plugged in all night or if it should be on a timer. The instructions did not say. So all in all, For me I think it was a waste of money. The only thing it has done is spark up conversation when people see an extension cord plugged into the front of my truck. They say "I didn't know the new Tacoma came in a diesel?" Oh, one more thing. They sure could have made the electrical cord a few feet longer. I like doing a nice job of routing wires in my engine bay. The cord provided is so short you basically need to make a straight shot from your firewall to your grille.

Wouldn't work on my 2015 Tacoma pickup. Toyota attached a bracket next to the hole so that it partially overlapped the hole preventing insertion of the heater despite the website indicating the correct part number. Then I am being charged return shipping cost. Not happy.

Dale, thank you for your review and your business. According to our installation video for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, which may be found at the following link, temporary removal of the rear skid plate will allow you to snap the heater in place. I hope this helps.

Still going strong and preventing dry starts
This thing used every ounce of patience I had left. Partly Toyota's horrible engineering when it comes to a stupid wiring harness bracket for the O2 sensor torqued torqued to the block which I had to bend because I was pissed off. No room to work, which I'm used to at my job, but it's still ridiculous.
When I finally, I mean finally got the bracket bent and destroyed enough to get the heater element in the hole, it got bound up on the shoulder which then had to be ground down. Got it in and that's all that matters.
Next is the wiring. Really? That's the only length they give? I understand different makes and models, but let's give a longer length and we can coil it up. Damn. So, I'm 2' short of even getting to the grill. Sweet. What? Now I have to cut and splice? Good grief.
I'm giving and average, but that's being generous. I guess if it works, That would be the 3rd star.
This is installed on my 2013 Tacoma. Not sure why it says my vehicle is a 2016 Tundra.
No pics as I am throughly embarrassed by having to bend and destroy that bracket.
DO NOT BUY for an early 2nd generation Tacoma (~2005-2011). Fitment and product quality are horrific. As other reviewers have mentioned for these specific vehicles, you have to grind down a side of the metal, removing approx 3/100s of an inch. Annoying, but not a huge deal. After clearancing, the heater cartridge fits right into the designated hole in the block.
The bigger issue is that the electrical plug slips right out of the end of the cartridge if you so much as blow on it. The clip designed to hold it all together and secure it into the truck is worthless- it is prone to popping right off of the orange section where it attaches and/or slipping off of its "notch" on the truck. All the bending/adjusting in the world could not make it work.
Significant potential fire hazard if the orange plug slips off the cartridge and you plug it into 120V power without realizing this. Extremely disappointed.

Bon achat, j'ai fait l'installation moi même sur un corolla 2016, j'ai nettoyer le trou et j'ai ajouter de la pâte Heat sink compound et j'ai placer le Kat's Heater
avec le câble électrique qui était juste assez long pour sortir de la grille.
Je l'ai essayer pendant 35 minutes à -17C et il a donner de bon résultat.
Cet hivers je vais travailler plus au nord ou il y aura des -40 C et je pourrai vraiment faire un bon test pour voir si il est vraiment efficace.
je ferai un autre commentaire pour le verdict.

So far so good, functional and easy to install
The Toyota original block heater for my 2020 Tacoma was recalled. In interior Alaska I needed one. Not only was the Kat's Heater the only aftermarket solution available with good reviews and it shipped quickly, it's a great design and keeps my truck from freezing up in -40 or colder. Instead of removing everything under the truck necessary, I lined it up and slightly filed the edge of the metal to conveniently get it to seat fully, which is very important. This is the solution if you want to install fast. 5/5 stars. Still working great in its second Alaska winter.
Quality block heater. Cord length was more than enough and shipping to Canada was pretty quick. The block heater worked well over the winter and helped make starting our 2018 Rav4 much easier.
helps alot with the winter months engine turns over easier Considering Toyota said that it wouldnt work on my 2022 4 Runner which I knew it would having a Tacoma before with the same engine 4.0 every little bit helps at -15

Install was super easy, product works great exactly as expected. Since installing we have not had the same temps that I ordered it for but sure does allow the engine to crank effortlessly.
Installed this on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Haven’t really tested it out yet as I installed it before it got seriously cold. Installation was easy. Just follow etrailers super helpful video. I did have to file a slight flat on the heater to clear the bell housing overhang. Not a manufacturer issue on the heaters part. Just normal variance on Toyota’s end.
This engine block heater is an affordable option to the OEM block heater. Easily installed on a 2019 Lexus RX350. I have this paired with a battery trickle charger for the very cold northern Canadian winters. I've had no issues after 1 year of ownership using this product. Recommended to anyone needing a cartridge style block heater.
I installed this engine block heater on a 2021 Toyota Tundra. The installation was fairly straight-forward as far as installing the actual heating element into the engine block. The challenging part was routing the electrical cord to the front of the truck. Mind you I had the truck elevated by tire ramps during the time of installation.
The install was so easy it almost installs itself.
Find the hole on the back of the block, plug in the heater, snake the cord up and zip it in place.
So far it's held up to regular country road driving conditions and regular use.
Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that, even on a 65ºF day it still takes 2.5 hours to get my block close to operating temp. Even factoring the thermal mass of the engine, still I have plug-in appliances that pull 4x the wattage; I wonder if they could've goosed it a little so I don't have to turn it on ~3 hours earlier.

Unfortunately the car got wrote off last winter so I cant comment on that one but I have had a Kats heater in my other Camry that I installed 8 years ago and it is still working just fine for our Manitoba winters.
