2025 Honda CR-V

It will fit the CR-V Sport Touring with hands-free liftgate. I removed the kick sensor (3 phillips screws and a connector) to modify it without damaging it. I had to removed the black cable from a couple retainers that would get cut and wire tied it in place after making the necessary cuts (sorry I forgot to get a pic with the wire ties). I also removed the phillips screws on either end of the bumper fascia to (near the exhaust trim) which really helped with pulling it down when installing the receiver. GL!

I installed my hitch on a 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid. Install time was 2.5 hours since I did it by myself. All 4 holes lined up perfectly. The install video was very helpful. Not the prettiest install since I made a wood ramp to drive up on and I used a floor jack to raise once side of the hitch.

Hey, using what you got to make the job easier is always a smart move in my book. I think it's a great idea to make your own ramp. What are you going to be using the hitch for, Charles?

2026 Honda CR-V

2026 CRV Touring Hybrid. It went on just like the instructions said. one man job, but I had a small floor jack and to jack stands to help get the hitch in place. Fascia cut sizes are spot on with the exception that there is an inner and an outer bumper fascia that need to be cut. I searched all over for the sensor for the auto trunk release. It is located between the inner and out bumper facia, Black on black and impossible to see. So yea, I nicked the sensor with my Oscillating cutter. I guess the sensor does not work anyway once you put a hitch on so no real lose. Also, you don't have to cut much off of the plastic undercarriage panel. Just open it up an inch so it goes around the tow loop and hitch attachment. The rubber muffler hangers are way harder to get back on than getting them off.

11/5/2025

Hey Jerry! If you can get that wire patched up/fixed, in most cases the sensor will still work. You'll just need to wave your foot a few inches to the left or right of the receiver tube, and maybe a couple inches further behind the bumper. If you do that, the hands-free liftgate feature should still work.

@MikeL Thank you, I will check that out.

Your vehicle listing for Honda CR V doesn’t include the Hybrid model. Although my vehicle only has one muffler, there was a little more work involved. I had to completely remove the cover under the vehicle. Then there was a little more trimming to do around the receiver in order to get the cover back on. The side of the vehicle with no muffler hangs a little lower than the side with the muffler because it’s on too of the flange.

2025 Honda CR-V

Easy to install when following the video (trailer hitch and electrical connection). The 2025 CRV, you only need to pull back the plastic interior quarter panel to install the electrical connector.

I agree that cutting out a 3.25 wide piece of the bumper plastic is necessary. For the EX-L, I had to remove the hidden black plug on the driver's side rear bumper before installation, but not on the EX.

by:
Honda

Your products and helpful technicians are great. The videos regarding my CR-V are
optimistic and in certain spotsincomplete. Access difficulty and moving / removal of interior panels was difficult-to
say the least. Hitch installation: removing the rubber hangers by the mufflers was
NOT easy-though ET technicians make it look easy. The wiring harness: on a difficultly scale of 1-10 is a 15. The hitch is about a 12. IF Honda made the pigtail
6 long, not 2, a LOT of the harness difficulty would have been negated. Getting that brown tape off the factory white plug was difficult and tiresome.

2023 Honda CR-V

First off this does work on a 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid. I noticed on the ad it says excluding hybrids, but it does work.

Overall, it took me just over an hour to get it installed. I think someone who’s not mechanically inclined. It would probably take them two hours, but it’s very simple. I installed it myself with a floor jack. Just follow the video on the website which sped up the install.

Overall looks great and was easy to install. I would definitely purchase again.

by:

My wife and I installed this on a 2022 Honda CRV Hybird. the videos were great. we roller the car backward on angled wood blocks 6.5 inches high in the rear. that gave us adequate space. strapped the 1 exhaust, removed the pins and we were ready to start. the hardest part was the cutout which should be measured from the tow loop to the front (more accurate).the fishing wires were amazing and then you are 98% done. It to us 2.5 hours but now after doing this for the first time I could do this in 1.5 hours. A rolling creeper helped on a concrete surface. Thank you Cassondria V for your constant updates. now we can tow our regular and E bikes anywhere and soon tow a small trailer with 4 flat trailer lights.
Excellent company and great prices. Would order from this company again!!!!!!

Success! From searching for a hitch, to ordering, receiving, and installing etrailer made every step seamless. The install video was excellent. Detailed enough to know what expect during install. Concise enough to inspire confidence this can be done at home in the garage. Aided by the video, the hitch installed in 90 minutes.

2018 Honda CR-V

The customer service is great. The actual trailer hitch received was not an exact fit for the 2018 Honda CRV. Part of the bumper needed to be cut in order for the hitch to fit. The hitch rides a little higher than others that I would have paid a little bit more for. So, the tradeoff was that the hitch was a little higher which is a benefit however I would have preferred having an exact fit so that the bumper did not need cutting. I would recheck the specs on the bumper I ordered and check with the manufacturer. Other than that, the price for the bumper was a plus.

I double checked with the manufacturer on this one, and while like you said, maybe not ideal, trimming the facia is needed for this to install. I appreciate your honest opinions on the hitch, too! And thanks for sending a photo :)

Nice Kit! Trim panel cut instructions maybe could have been a little bigger cut out. It had pretty tight tolerances and had to trim some with the hitch on.

by:

etrailer delivers again, $[XX]ish for a hitch and wiring, the wiring was plug and play as they stated. Two things to note: 1 - I ran the wiring out the rear of the cargo floor area, just needed to use a dremel to widen a hole a little bit for it to fit through, then cut that rubber gasket and silcone to seal it well. 2 - be CAREFUL when cutting the hole in the bumper bottom, if your car has the hands free rear kick sensor you need to push a wire out of the way before you start cutting!! Also note, impossible to get a torque wrench above the muffler on the hybrid version. I removed the rear exhaust hanger and the one in the middle of the car, it was tight but just used a regular wrench. The CRV had the hardest hangers to get off on any car I did this on before, so hard and tight spaces to work in. Looks good and wiring worked as well.

by:

The hitch arrived on time, and it appears to be well made. But the instructions have room for improvement.
As others have noted, the hitch mounting (bolt) holes didn't align with my 2025 Honda CRV frame. It was easier to bend the hitch - spread it apart - than I first imagined. I had a beefy friend stand on one end of the hitch and I used a 2' pipe wrench for leverage to bend the other side out. 2 yanks on the wrench yielded the 1/2" gain that I needed. The hitch then slipped right into place.
SUGGESTION: before installing your hitch, measure the overall width of your hitch. It needs to be between 39 3/4" to 40" wide before the bolt holes will line up.
The recommended cutouts in the instructions for the car's plastic panels were off a little. The Fascia Trim Diagram recommends removing a piece 3" wide, but I found that I needed to remove at least a 3 1/4" wide cutout to accomodate the welded plate (see photo). Measure your hitch at the wider welded location to veryfy the required width of your cutout.
Also, the Underbody panel measurement photo indicates removal of a 4 5/8" piece of material measured from the inside of the U shaped slot (on the right side of the factory "U" in the photo) but that removes too much material. Measuring 4 5/8" from the OUTSIDE edge of the "U" shaped slot (which is the left side of the "U" in the photo) will give you sufficient opening for the hitch.
And lastly, be sure to watch the installation video a couple times before installing your hitch. It offers several tips that are not included in the printed instructions like, have a spray bottle with soapy water available to lubricate the rubber exhaust "isolators" before removal and before re-installing them. BTW, I found that a 2 foot wrecking bar gave me sufficient leverage to easily pry the rubbers off. I was able to re-install them by hand after applying lots of soapy water.
And the video also mentions the need to remove/relocate an electrical connector, which I found necessary too.
Bottom line, I would buy this hitch again. While the installation instructions could use a "tune-up", the hitch itself is a good value.

2025 Honda CR-V

The Curt hitch is a beautiful fit on my Honda CR-V hybrid. As many reviewers point out, the dimensions for cutting bumper facia and other plastic piece are incorrectly given by both Curt instructions and e-trailer installation video. This was disappointing as i had to take the hitch down to recut bumper facia and installing, removing, and then reinstalling was a chore on my back, by myself. Bumper facia should be cut 3.5 inches wide and about 1-3/4 inches deep, centered on car’s tow hook, not 3’ and 1-3/8’ as instructions and video claim. Also, on second plastic piece you only need to trim to a width of 3-3/4 inches, not 4-5/8’ as claimed. The cutouts can only be seen from under the car so don’t worry about making them a bit irregular or too large.

Home/ Driveway install. Im a fairy good mechanic and installed the hitch in 1-2 hours. Wasn’t easy but I got it.

2018 Honda CR-V

This hitch is great. Fits my 2018 Honda CR-V perfectly, and the slight trimming of the plastic bumper cover is not visible. Use if for hauling my gravel bike, but would have no reservation about pulling an appropriate size trailer. This is the 3rd hitch I've bought for different vehicles over the years. The service at etrailer is as good as the products they sell. Highly recommend..

Have used it with my bike rack hundreds of times. It does its job and doesnt distract from the appearance of my CR-V

by:

2022 AWD. This should have been a slam-dunk easy install. It wasn't. Everything was going well right up until the slots in the hitch wouldn't line up with the attachment bolts. It gave the appearance that the hitch was 'out of square' and that it needed to slide to the passenger side about 1/8". No matter how much I pried, it simply would not line up with the bolts. Then I found the culprit. There was an unused electrical plug (shown in photo, possibly the trailer wiring connector) on the driver's side attached to the body, perfectly positioned to prevent the hitch from sliding forward. This was just thick enough to prevent aligning the bolts with the holes. Very subtle... Once I snipped off the attachment pin and moved the plug out of the way, the hitch easily went in to place. All this frustration could have been prevented with another paragraph or two in the instructions. The hitch itself is excellent, the instructions, not so much.

Heavy duty. Very good quality. Mine arrived with no damage to the box of the hitch.
Tight fit under 2025 cr-v sport L hybrid. You need to get it in just the right spot for it to go up onto the bolts. The side arms of the hitch are super close to the dropped down underside of the car, where the hybrid battery is.

The hitch has been a great addition to our 2025 CR-V hybrid sport L. We only use it for bikes, or a platform with light loads. Im sure the hitch itself could handle a trailer, but the limit on the CR-V is 1k lbs, I believe. Follow the videos for install. On the sport L, maybe others, you will need to cut away a small portion of the plastic under the center of the rear bumper cover.

@John Glad you are getting good use out of the hitch, John! I double checked and you are correct, the Hybrid models of CR-V can only tow up to 1,000 pounds. That said, if you wanted to do something like the Yakima LowRider trailer # Y82KD and the Front Runner rooftop tent # FR26RV, you would only be at 363 pounds. Well within the towing capacity and pretty snazzy to boot! Just an idea. : )

  • Is There a Hitch for 2025 Honda CR-V That Allows Hands Free Liftgate to Function
Hey Manning, I checked the reviews for all of the hitches we offer for your 2025 Honda CR-V and all of them except one had people tell us their hands free liftgate stopped working. The only hitch we offer that allows it to still function is the Draw Tite part # DT79MR so that would be what I would recommend. What are you planning on using the hitch for?

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid
To add a class III hitch to your 2024 Honda CR-V hybrid, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C13397. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your CR-V with included hardware. • Trailer Hitch for 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Carrying Bike Rack
Hey Lyndy! For a hitch that fits your 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13397. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. The hitch has a 525 lb max tongue weight so it can handle any bike rack and bikes you throw at it. It also has a concealed cross tube so only the receiver will be visible giving it a nice, clean look. Do you already have a bike rack or would you like some recommendations? If you can give me a better...
